i was unable to make it to suzuki spare parts for this, so i was thinking someone on here would know.
when did vitaras or G/vitaras come with a rear disc from factory? i was thinking maybe 97??? i haven't a clue.
the suzuki spares computer manuals have everything, and also in an exploded veiw, so i could get a vitara ('89) rear diff and drum set up printed out, and also a (grand) vitara ('97) rear diff and disc set up and compare.
i was thinking the GV and the Vits do not have identical rear diff housings? am i wrong?
i was thinking, if its possible, to take the rear discs off a GV, and put them on my vit. maybe its not so easy, but i haven't been able to get close enough to the GV for a good look, and i'm thinking the suzuki dealer wont let me take a rear wheel off the GV in the showroom.
i wanna do the rear disc, but all these little probs just dont make it worth it.
thanks
Steve

Never has any Suzuki 4WD in Australia ever been released with rear disc brakes. This includes everything from an LJ20 to an XL7.

I can't see why you couldn't do rear disks the same way as the Sierra guys do. Maybe look into that.

damo, i have looked ito how the sierras have done their discs, and i have even found a very good caliper to use.
this caliper has a hand brake incorporated, and this is what i need because vits do not have a tranny hb.
i have almost all the gear i need for the conversion, but for somereason, many of the engineers up here won't have a go at engineering it. i dont know what it is. they all said that i need to get it proprtioned, and not let the rear have any more than 40% of brake distribution, i dont know how to sort this out unless i set it all up and go for a drive.
and the motor vehicles registry are real Grimace about it too, as they haven't had any zooks come through with this mod, and for the zooks that are running rear discs, maybe 2 in darwin, max, i dont think that they are engineered, and are running rear discs illegally.
oh well, i'll keep at it though, cos one day i will have discs on the back, but until then, i need to get my vit onthe road again, so i can eat some hiluxes for brunch.
thanks
