MQ/MK diffs Vs GQ diffs in comp rangey/buggy

Post by Snarba »

Hi all. Just wondering whats the best, running MQ diffs instead of GQ ones or Toyota internals? GQ ones seem the go for ease of install plus discs all round except its gonna cost at least 1500 bux for a descent set f/r and thats only 3.9 ratio v's about $ 450 for f/r MQ units and they are 4.6 standard, plus open centres for rear weld up, also the rear diff housing is ofset like the original. ( unlike GQ's) any opinions? cheers guys

rangie blow CV's?? I have never had a strong enough rear end to let CV's break in a rover setup.

Yes but you never ran MD axles did you? I know heaps of people up here who run MD lockers front and rear, and have never broken a single axle, just CV's and very rarely a rear 3.54 CW&P. With MD axles the CV's are definitely the weakest component, followed by the rear CW&P (though they usually only break when recovering other trucks or using too much right foot and lifting/bouncing.

What about the 10 spine stub axles?

A common setup is to use a locker, HD axles, R606665 cv's then the weak link becomes the small little 10 spline stub axle.

Easier than changing cv's!

Yes your right I never did, I personnally couldn't see the value for money in it. They are strong and combined with 4.1's and a locker (whichever brand) it would be CV breaking matrial.
