what motor is in the 83 petrol hilux ute?

im looking at buying an 83 hilux ute for the motor to put in my 85 4runner the 4runner has a 3y and its fucked so im looking for a replacement and the 83 model motor looks completly different so wat is it and will it bolt up

Does it have a big wide rocker cover

Dont waste your time or money,its an 18r 2 litre,same size engine as the 3y,but it weighs a shitload more. They suck juice and dont go very well at all.

Ah yep won't bolt up, or go any better. Would cost as much as a supra swap probably, still have to cut off old mounts etc. Buy another y-series if yours is buggered or upgrade to something better
