Looking at a Brawn ZR-10000 (10000lb) winch to buy. Has anyone had any experiences, good and bad, with any Brawn winch?? Have heard that they are alot more waterproof than Warns (noticed alot of people bitch about Warns kicking the bucket after a water crossing?!?!). The Brawns look the goods on paper, just want to know IF they are a good winch in reality??
Thanks,
Phill

That's OK Col, I can't even quote from my experiences with Warn, Ramsay, Thomas, Superwinch and Brawn...ummmm...why again.
Because I don't have the experience...no that's not true.
Because I work for Brawn...no that's not true either.
I have used and abused them. I have stripped and rebuilt them. For my personal choice the Brawn is the go but that is for the style of driving and recovering that I do.

If ppl STUCK to commenting on WHAT WAS ASKED (ie Brawn winches, not any other make), and gave a reasonably objective form of feedback about their operation and reliability, then there would be no problems. 1/2a = RTFQ.
If you want to pimp other brands, go to the trader section.......
I am also interested in the Brawn winches, so go on.

I would also add that models change, and therefore comparisons do too...
What was a valid statement 12-18 monhs ago, may not be relevant/correct any more with the benefit of hindsight.

Gary, the discussions have been done to death time and time again. If you are really interested in finding out, look at some of the previous threads rather than attempting to start the debate all over again.

I have had a Brawn ZR9500 for about 18 months, used it little but had no problems wat so ever. worked well, pulled everything it had to and lasted through Otways VIC with massive amounts of mud and water going through the thing.
They are a good winch and reasonably priced.
