Lack of FJ55 postings

Post by Nev62 »

I've noticed there is a lack of FJ55 postings on this forum. Is this because they are the black sheep of the yota family (not much chop) or just because they are butt ugly :?:

Is an FJ55's running gear interchangeable with other yota models :?:

Because there's hardly any of them around anymore, last one I saw was when I test drove one 15 years ago, so glad I didn't buy it, it was a rust bucket. Brought a 68 Ex-Army Landy instead. :D

most drivetrain part s are interchangeable, i'vd got a 55 series gearbox in mine (reverse switch was in a different place, but may be due to year differences) driveshaft and diffs work, springs work (some have a slightly wider bushing) engines all work.

yeah they are pretty scarce these days. I have seen the odd one around brisbane though. there was one parked up the street about a yr ago, saw one at new farm park about a month back that was in really good nick, no noticable exterior rust at all..

you'll find a heap more 55series info on ih8mud and pirate4x4 than you will here.. can't wait to be finished with my 40 so i can start on a 55! :P
