Hi Guys,

finding info on Paj autos is damn hard. Hope someone can help or has some info.

My 1992 (230000 klms) auto slips occasionly from takeoff and the lockup converter in 4th gear sometimes unlock and locks or takes ages to lockup, particularly when its hot and towing.

Anyone know how the lockup is controlled, soleniod? electronic? Perhaps the converter is getting worn out, anyone replaced one? Any idea on cost?

Cheers

i have a NH auto as well from what i have been told from a auto mech is that if there is to much tranny fluid in it, it slips outa gear as the fluid will get bubbles in it something like that

ps. Do you see the auto warning light come on when you start?if not check the warning light globe and replace, may be the box is getting hot and if the light doesn't come on you wont know that it is getting to hot and it could be the prob..............just a guess

check the filter gauze in the sump, take it out and clean it with some carby cleaner solvent, that may help

Newer trans fluid are very detergent like in action, it may be getting clogged at the filter and causing the trans fluid to foam up as it passes through the strainer, these trans are haudralic trans, not much goes wrong with them.
The filter is a good start point, new ones are cheap, but cleaning it is just as easy, either way the sump on the tran has to come off to do it

Thanks for the replys. Will defintely change the filter and see how that goes.

A/T light comes on at startup so probably working ok.

I have also found out that it may be the solenoid that controls the lockup, could be faulty. That is bolted to the outside of the transmission somewhere.
