My 89 MAV LWB`s tranny tunnel gets bloody hot,you cant even put yor hand on the tunnel(mainly passenger side). Its got 31`s with a 2"body lift. The rubber protectors have been removed from the side of the engine bay.
So much so that the missus has to put her feet on the seat because of the heat from the floor and the tunnel.
I`ve heard that the GU scoop is the best idea but does this REALLY help or is it a band-aid solution.
Temp gauge reads 1/2

it is becasue of the exhaust system, it runs under the passenger floor, and heat from radiator blows through into trans tunnel, so it all heats up,

id recomend trying to place heat shields over the exhaust first and see how you go

Is there a join under the floor??? i had this problem in my ute awhile ago and all it was was a leaking flange gasket letting exhaust gas heat up the tunnel. Hope this helps

No the join is a bit further under.Anyway i would have thought if it was exhaust the whole tunnel would be hot not the passenger side only?

but the exhaust runs directly under the passenger floor only, there fore, to heat the whole tunnel, it would take a long time to transfer the heat across the tunnel.
