Just picked up 10/76 FJ 40 today in bits with the usual rust at the back corners wondering which way to go do I cover it with checkerplate and let it grow.

Or go the ute tub and cut the bottom level with the floor with tube rear tray area.

Mods allready under way all the usless stuff straight to the bin.
pics and ideas welcome.

If your guna put checkerplate on it, don't be slack! cut the rust out and cover the bair metal with paint first. It will take 5 min. and the rust will stop.

Mine had some chequer plate on it when i bought it and all it did was promote more rust by trapping moisture. Just cut the rust out and weld in some new steel. Unless you're after a show car it doesn't need to look good, just not have any rust and be structurally sound. The ute cab option is a good idea. It just depends on what you want.
