Ok - we are using my mates 24v motor in my 12v body which I gave to him as its got no rust - my question is with the alternator - 12V Mk patrol ones are hard to find - can I use a GQ alt. if I mod the brackets up to fit etc? Or is there regulator/diode pack problems involved? Do the GQ's alts have Vac pump on the rear? Can I get a 24V re-wired to 12V????

are you saying that the only real mod is that your gonna use a 24V moter in the MK which originally had a 12 V one.........
cause wont you still need 24V for the starter and glow plugs at a minimum???
Hmm

Nah the mods are like, snorkle, paintjob, hell flexy springs, altered shock mounts, wiring altered a little for tail lights to remove indicators from bumper, wheel carrier, body lift, power steer, 5 speed, soft top etc etc etc
Nothing major I know but he aint into real extreme stuff due to budget and this truck is surprisingly capable - say what you will but for a mere 2 inch lift (we haven't put body lift in it) and no LSD etc and only 31 inch muds she goes VERY well - plus its rcked up some serious kms but hasn't let us down... yeah sure its not SPOA with 38's and 350 n twin lockers or 5 likn etc but it suits his needs.
Nah - we havin problems with alternator and findin one - got glow plugs and starter but I gave alt to mate who blew his 12v alt up - hence we need new one...
