Hey guys since i notice quite a number of u guys are in Oz or from the States have u guys ever considered trying to fabricate your own lsd? Since plenty of guys are dying for lsds let alone lockers.
Coz i was wondering if anyone of u guys heard of the Phantom Grip concept?
Just do a Google search on it and u'll bound to find this simple lsd that i'm sure u guys can get your local machine shop to make one.
U can even check www.kleemann.dk under it's lsd product. Kleeman as in the Merc aftermarket tuner.
From what i notice they stuff 2 "friction blocks in between the sun gears of an open differential and inbetween this 2 blocks there's 2 springs of what ever rate u specify. In theory it acts like a 2 way lsd.
I notice quite a few ppl doing this as a budget lsd on their road cars if they cannot affoard or find an lsd for their cars.
Just food for thought.

I think that link may be wrong- it ends up redirecting to some house inspection mob!!!

I think the phantom grip have been mentioned before. I've never actually heard any comments from anyone who's tried building one though?

Here's a pic of the "device"

It's got me stuffed how you fit that to a normal diff and make an LSD out of it???

Here's a direct link to the page:

Although just a lsd, considering the options, that seems promising!! would be a front only application though ( at least for rockies and scats/tafts) because the rear has 4 instead of 2 spider gears. you can swap front to rear but that makes it much weaker.

Coz i'm considering if i should do that on my Rocky.
Run that "lsd" up front in my Rocky and combined with my rear detroit i wonder if it might help.
Plus i cant really find an original Rocky LSD.... I rather try to source 4.8 final drives for my Rocky. Anyone here with F20s that wanna wreck their cars?

It's just that i never gave thought about LSDs as i've been using lockers all the way. Call me substituting skills with lockers haha.
Anyway i thought it might be cheap as a local fabricated version of it is going for something like 300 oz after conversion.

From 1st hand account it seems pretty effective on a car and on rwd cars makes it much easier to drift the thing.
Anyway just something to consider so that u dont guys end up destroying cvs when welding the front up.

There's only one problem.... they don't make them to suit a Feroza or Rocky!!!

I wouldn't fancy getting one "made up" unless the place knew what they were doing.
