Jason, the bad news is you may need a different harmonic balancer - the belt runs directly off that and around the air con pulley too.

I've emailed you a couple of pics that may help.

Yeah, it's the pulley assembly that hangs off the end of the crankshaft. To change it would mean removing the timing belt etc and you'll need a gear puller to get it off.

So your's isn't double width? With enough space at the front for the flat ribbed A/c belt, the pic I sent will show you what I mean??

are you sure you'll need a gear puller to get it off? mine came off pretty easily, i just used a screw driver to pry it off slowly. and yeah its a harmonic gear... helps convert from one gear ratio to another and is a very effient concept.. shouldnt be all that expensive...

not sure why he would need a new one though? on the ferozas, aint they all the same standard size? or is that only limited to the 1990-92 models? which is all we have here in the states.

i think your right. i just checked out the pix that Dave sent me and i think i might just need to take out a pulley and then run the belt over not under another one. i'll give it a shot 2nite.

and from memory, the balancer comes off after removal of four 10mm HT bolts in the centre. and just 'get jiggy with it'.....

Thanx for the pix dave they were a big help. on the 2nd pic my setup is different to yours. Mine doesnt have the part that the hoses connect to. Gunna pop into the wreckers on tuesday and see if they have it. I will post some pix of my setup up tomorrow cause there's something already there where the hose connects (dont know the name of it). there is a spot free in front on it but i dont know what effect it would have. will post some pix cause i'm not doing very well explaining it.

It won't matter which place it is tapped into the manifold. Undo the bolt that's blocking off the hole and find a hose adaptor (most auto parts shops should be able to help) and screw that in.

Here's a better pic.

All that hose is designed to do AFAIK is to bypass air past the throttle butterfly into the inlet manifold and increase the revs when the power steering is operating (ie. prevent the engine from stalling when the power steering pump puts a load on the engine.)
