Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I ordered a small peice of stainless sheet cut to size. Received it and need to cut two squares outta it.

I started by drilling small holes in the corners of the squares and was going to use a dremel type tool to cut it but turns out there is no cutting bit

The holes are 17mmx40mm, so an angle grinder is out of the question.

Any ideas or any one local wanna cut then out for me?

well, organise a case, hand about a zillion hacksaw blades, and start cuttin, will post back next week and see how far through the first hole you are.................

not sure on your best option here.......but if you drilled a seiries of holes really close together, then try and file it, iv never worked with stainless, but i do know its a bniatch to cut.

the trick is to progress slowely using plenty of lube, to stop burn up and stop the tip getting hot. use a jigsaw with steel cutting blades. go very slow. hacksaws work well too - but all it takes is one or two fast strokes and the blade is cactus. you can use a angle grinder to to cut 40mm holes. use worn out discs and go from both sides. then cut the to the corner with a jig / hacksaw.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, will start with a worn out cutting disc and see how far I get, fingers crossed.

Ive cut upto 1.6mm stainless sheet plenty of times using a jigsaw and as the other guys said plenty of lube, you'll need a fine metal cutting blade, and if they go blunt you can actually buy a hardened blade for a few more dollars - ive never needed one yet tho.
Just experiment with speed and oscillation to see what works best for your application, should be pretty slow and not much oscillation, ive cut 20mm aluminium and it was best flat out using kero for lube... just make sure the work peice is clamped securely!
The jigsaw cut my gaurds, snorkel hole, stainless sheet, part of the hawse fairlead!!

I went on a road trip to bunnings and found some cutting peices available for a dremel type tool.

Cost me only $20 for a full kist with more sanding barrels and drill bits as well as cutting bits etc.
