conversion to vented discs

Post by andrew e »

Has anyone done a conversion from solids to vented discs? i have some discs but the callipers are wider and a modification kit is available but its $200+ and just consists of some spacers and o rings. Has anyone made up their own spacers?

I did this to my 83 Rangie, made a hell of a diffrence. The Aquarangie provided the bits and being a 93 it already had them on the vehicle

It was also a straight swap as the 83 has metric brake fittings and no other mods were required bar the vented discs of course. Go to the wreckers for the spacers for the calipers, much cheaper than the kit I would think.

I've swapped to vented disks at the front, used a kit but it wasn't $200. Shop around. They do work better too.

I know people who have made their own adaptors, the hardest part is making the groove for the o-ring to seat properly.

I used DBA vented/slotted discs, had a set of 90 calipers so all was easy straight bolt on, spacers are available from most rover after market suppliers prices vary greatly.

Also run S/steel flex lines braking so much better now.
