okay i was wondering if any one knows what the go is with fittin a baby bolt to a dual cab mine is a 99 rodeo and has know factory points didnt know this when we bought it so i know they can be fitted but do you have to get a proper mob to do it or is it okay to do it yourself which iam not really keen on because its a pretty important item does anyone know who fits things like these on the northside bris or sunny coast cheers

Try larger baby stuff shops, Plunket, AA etc.
Try any professional seatbelt fitting shop.

Seems odd that it wouldn't have them. My lux has 2 mounts behind the back seat that are welded to the shell of the cab.

Its not a requirement in the ADR's for NA category vehicles. Manufacturers can fit them if they wish.


Call QLD transport or RACQ, they should have a list of approved fitters for child restraint anchorages. If not as said before check with the baby shops they should be able to help.

There is a fitment requirement in the ADR's but it also requires a test which can destroy the panal which the CRA is bolted to.

Utes are a commercial vehicle... therefor not a requirement, toyota put em in the 'lux... but i found them painful to access in the "capsule" stage due to the solid headrest design.

To fit them requires plating as they are a seat belt restraint point... Bris vans did an offset one for Julie's lux when we found the stock units weren't working... and they got an engineer that does the plates for em to...

My VS ute had one factory fitted for the only passenger seat, reckon they should have fitted 2 just in case. . . . . . .

i was of the understanding you cannot have children in the front seat???

i have a 98 duelcab hilux which had no restraining points.i talk to them ambulance where i hired the capsule from and they advised me where to put it.then i drilled it myself.

I have a 97 Rodeo and it also doesn't have a baby capsule point. However mine is ex family services and it had a baby capsule point put in it. It is a steel bar that is screwed in above and below the rear window. So it spans the window.

The later model Rodeos had a fold forward rear seat and I think a baby capsule point on the floor behind the seat. I guess it was post 99 though.
