A brakeline question.

Ok, Im getting new brakelines for my lux.
A question, how much longer do I make them from stock?
Too long and they will get caught up, too short and I have wasted my money.
They are stock lines, and they are taught when i flex, I am thinking 3 inches longer whould be a happy medium.
Also, when I pull off the line, you just plug the line to stop the master cylinder driaing dry?
Theres no way of stopping air running back to the master clyinder is there, like crimping the flexy tube when you change pads etc. So i doint have to bleed all the brakes again. As I am taking the felxy tube off, I cant really crimp em....
Ideas anyone?

the brake lines which richard at 4x4 engineering sells up here are 200mm longer than stock - i have these and they never fouled up when i was still on stock springs
and with my current lift they seam about right

20cm hey?
Thats a hefty amount.
I am just going to an ABS store, and getting em to make me some up, I hope thats not an expensive option.
Will go for about the same I guess.

dunno how long mine r but i just used a light spring and hooked it round the line and then 2 the rear of the guard so that it pulls it back away from the tyre on compression but it allows it 2 come down as much as is need on droop

yes but 3 in longer will probably only be good for the mean time
all 3 of my brake lines cost $136 i think - they went up in price since i priced them 4 months b4 i bought them

Guys dont waste your money on something so cheap and easy.
Here's a very cheap and easy (legal) way to extend your front brake lines.
Go to any wreckers and undo the rear flexy brake line off any hilux, four runner, surf, ect ect ect and screw it straight onto your front lines.
Of course you need two and you can hunt around for various lengths, some are short (about 6 inches) and some are longer (about 10 inches).
They will set you back a whopping $ 5.00 a pair.
I got longer ones, and to stop them getting caught on everything tie them up with some oki strap, so when it flexs out the oki strap just extends out aswell.
Pretty cheap and simple.

Just bought 3 From 4x4 Engineering today at the same price as Bubs. For a daily driver, I'd prefer not to compromise. Plus I'm going new rotors and pads as well as steering bearings and wheel bearings all at once so the I'll know that the front end will be pretty maintenance free for a while. Until I start breaking CVs.

I had custom lines made for my cruiser. Hilux caliper to cruiser axle housing. $35 each. Only about 200mm long though.

Body lift doesnt do a thing to the brakeline, as its the distance between the chassis and the front brake.
