Air Con - F200 (Rocky NZ)

Hi guys, I'm a noob so be gentle with me
Just bought my Rocky (F200 Feroza) 1992. Have discovered that the Air Con is not working, the clutch is not engaging. Is there anywhere that details the troubleshooting steps involved? I've hunted through all the manuals I've downloaded (thanks again...) Has anyone been through this process and can offer me some pointers? I'm a qualified Elec. Engineer but tracing this wiring is a bloody nightmare!

The system will have a failsafe mech to prevent the compressor clutch engaging if low on gas pressure. Perhaps the problem lies there.

anyway I can test that? or do i need to get it pressure tested by someone?

Get it tested by an auto fridgey, they will test for leaks, and can regas and lube the system if all tests out ok.

For a start, pull the connector on the wire that goes to the compressor clutch, and connect it directly to + on the battery, to see if the clutch works. Or else, try above.

cheers, will try that first - guess I can check for 12vdc with a meter on the connector too.

The Feroza compressor has a 4 wire (IIRC) plug- two wires generate an AC signal that appears to be used by the electronic brain to let it know the compressor is turning. The control module is mounted above the glovebox.
Check all the basics first eg. are all the A/C relays working and is power getting to the clutch? Check the pressure switches too. Check the fuses under the driver's side of the dash as well. IIRC the A/C has it's own separate bank of fuses.
