Rust/Corrosion VS Staun products

Hi Guys,

As the topic suggests anyone have an opinion regarding this stuff? Does it really work as they claim?

Any recommendations to battle this?

Rust prevention - E.R.P.S. dont get anything else.... I can say these work my father has used them on a total of 5 vehicles - 3 of which went over to north stradbroke island atleast 3 times a week.

ERPS?

Is this what was banned in the states? I heard that there was a court case that prohibited this type of rust proofing as it was proved that it didn't work?

Have i opened a can of worms?

I use the staun stuff to rustproof my 40. I didnt really want to spend the money on a serious solution and so far I'm on my second bottle (at $50 each). I find that its ok, have spent 2 weeks on fraser, done some recent mud work so theres always sand around.

It leaves a greasey film on the surface of where you apply it so you might find that you get greasy hands opening door handles etc.

Its ok as far as surface rust goes but I have noticed a few other spots come up. YOu really need to apply this stuff regularly (fortnightly)? I use my massojet to apply it but I haven't yet done it with the aircompressor and water, just the water, it doesnt have the pressure to apply this properly i think.

i reckon if your serious on protecting your vehicle, then use ERPS or a professional application of fish oil (whats it called?).

I CAN RECOMMEND THE E.R.P.S. SYSTEM.

I HAD IT INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE 3 YEARS AGO AND CURRENTLY THE ONLY RUST I HAVE IS ON ISOLATED COMPONENTS (SCREWS WITH RUBBER WASHERS INTO PLASTIC INSERTS, STEERING DAMPER, SHOCKYS ETC). AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED I CRUNCHED MY REAR QUARTER PANEL DROPING OFF A ROCK AND I DELIBERATELY LEFT IT AS DAMAGED AND UNPAINTED FOR A FEW MONTHS TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. IT DIDN'T RUST. I DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE (BEACH, BUSH, MUD, CREEK CROSSINGS) AND ALTHOUGH I STILL CLEAN IT I'M NOT OVER THE TOP ABOUT IT. ON MY PREVIOUS 4B I GOT CAUGHT OUT A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH MUD RUSTING OUT LITTLE SPOTS WHERE I HADN'T CLEANED PROPERLY. THIS DOSN'T HAPPEN NOW.

any ideas on what an erps system is worth ? went local guy and got told no change out of a grand

:shock: well i not saying prices as my father obviously gets a deal for his tour vehicles, he gets the unit fitted to them by a guy who lives on north stardbroke island... My mothers brand spanker 100s is bein picked up from him today and I have no doubt it will remain failry rust free for the next 10 years no worries ;)

E.R.P.S. to date has been the only unit my father has tried but he was told of other units that did absolutely nuthing, he researched a fair bit b4 his purchase (he always reasearches everything to each and every minor detail) and so far his research has paid off :lol:
I am even considering puting one on my range rover thast already showing signs of rust under the sills....

Sum installation places charge alot and try to sell you and install three times as many couplers as you need (couplers are $60-$90 each :shock: ) so be wary if they say you need 10 as you prob only need 4 :roll: that where i think sum people have been quoted way over $1000.

I GOT WHAT THEY CALL "THE BEACH PACK" WHICH FOR A SWB INVOLVES 6 CONNECTION PADS AND THE UNIT ITSELF. IT WAS INSTALLED FOR $450 OR $550 (I CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH).

A GRAND SOUNDS EXCESSIVE. :shock:

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY (YOU SHOULD CHECK. PHONE YOUR LOCAL ARB STORE) THE STANDARD IS 4 PADS FOR A SWB (6 FOR BEACH PACK) AND 6 PADS FOR LWB (8 FOR BEACH PACK).

I haven't tried electronic rust preventer. I have however had my Rodeo chemically rust proofed. I also spray lanolin around underneath before any beach trips. I have absolutely zilch rust. However i have heard that Isuzu panels are made from galvinised sheet or something.

I'd be hesitant to spend the extra on an electronic system when the 'old-fashioned' way has been so good to me.

My Rodeo is 7.5 years old and has been a coastal car all its life. Many beach trips etc.

any where i can buy them and can i fit them myself, i mean , i own a suzuki so 4 or 6 should be plenty. they just connect to the body, right.

from what i see it won't interferr with the ecu or radios or stereo

You can fit the system yourself- but you will miss out on the warranty provided when professionally installed. Autobarn supply and fit them as well as some tyre retailers like Bridgestone Tyre Power.
