american dollars in the pricelist by the looks of things, so therefore not that much cheaper, i saw lock-rites to suit zooks for 500 last week

I mailed them to find out any more info- they are made by an australian manufacturing group and designed in the US- they are called the aussie locker because they had a couple of australian designers work help work on them, I have a suspicion from the email they are the same or very simular to as the locka difflock. They only distribute in the US. So they are basically using our good names to sell them. - Has anyone ran a Locka lockright? what do you think?

So they are not only using our good name but they are bullshitting their clients as well ...

I do believe that pic (straight from their site) says "Manufactured in Australia" ...
If that's true, let's find out by who and we can cut their lunch and bye direct!

engineers who work on our product are Australian. We also test our products
in Australia as well as in the USA.

As part of our marketing strategy we only distribute our products in the
Americas. This is from the Northern edge of Canada to the end of Argentina. I
apologize that we do not sell products in your marketplace.

We have worked with an great company in Adelaide and find that they are the
most knowledgeable locker company we have met. It is 4WD Systems and I
apologize but I do not have their phone number. They do have a web site
however.

who has owned a lokka?

I have got one in the rear and its fine, I though that there was some trouble between Lokka and Powertrax ???

Well they are pretty cheap and stating a 3 year warranty so I figure thrash the shiat out of em for the first 3 years and if nothing happens to em then a couple of hundred bucks per year ain't bad for 3 years of locked fun ...

Has anyone run one in conjuction with a limo diff so you have a limo that actually locks. Ive heard you can but never heard of anyone doing it.

sorry andrew ... i think your confused the issue there..its an "either or thing to fit traction control device

there are many different types and brands but you can have more than any one type in one diff centre at a time.

lsd will be just and lsd, you can slip a locking device in there with it as well.

You would remove the lsd component and install the lockrite or lokka or airlocker or detroit lockker or what ever you have to fit instead...

Im pretty sure a dealer of the lockright said you could install it to a limited slip and have a slippery locker. Il find out more- was looking for something for the light rear end in my old 3.8v6 4runner so it wouldn't spin one wheel as much on the road but would lock off road. Was a couple of years ago though.

i have a Rocloc for the rear of my coiler sierra which is the same as the Lockright. i don't know the whole story but a brisbane mob was making them for a limited time, they were sold by suzisport when i got mine. They are no longer made... in fact i got the last one.

it pretty savage on the road. Its loud when it locks into place and when it does it shakes the whole a$$ end of the car around. cornering has to be done with the foot on the clutch or under acceleration...(read: fun in the wet.) or corning will become real jerky as it won't unlock.

on the other hand I've gone more places because of the locker and i'd not go back to being without one. Besides ARB charge half an arm and a leg for there stuff....i think about $1800 fitted for a rear locker with compressor. I can't find a locker for the front so i'd guess id have to weld it one day too.

i also heard that 4wd systems are in alot of leagal hot water...something about accepting the cash but not delevering the goods......"Sorry we have no record of your order"

There are some better LSD's than others but as a rule, it's locked, open or LSDed but to my knowledge there is no such thing as a "slippery locker"

Auto lockers unlock a wheel when the ground force applied to a wheel (ie the outside wheel when turning) is greater than the force applied from the vehicle's drive but the inside wheel still has driving force.

The other alternative is manual locker which can be engaged to be fully locked or deactivated to be fully open.

I have spoken to CGA 4x4 in bayswater (Im not really sure if they really know) they said lockright (not locka) can be fitted to LSD toyotas and be used with the LSD (?) maybe not the best info- Not made for any other LSD. You could be right though.

I had a lockrite in the back of mine, and it stopped working. It seemed to stop unlocking, and when it wound up enough, it would suddenly unlock making some pretty cool noises, and throwingthe car aorund a bit. It always felt a bit weak.

andrew , it sounds real sus considering both items use the same forces to create the locking or limited slip action .

JUst had to add to this , it would be possible to use a limited slip setup in conjuntion with a air locker ,cable locker but it would most probly have to be specialy made to fit .wouldn't be factory style unless the air locker cable locker , retianed the original planetary set.

The new E-Locker in the Rubicon jeeps is a helical gear bias LSD/Locker. I sincerly doubt that you could have an auto LSD locker..

Hmm actaully I guess an auto locker could be a "limited slip" or a "really really limited slip" as there would have to be a very marginal amount of slip before the locker actually locked ...

There is a company called KAM diffs in the uk that make an LSD combined with a manual locker (the locker is similar to a Maxi or JacMac Rover locker). Only for Rovers though.

Ive got the lokka fitted in the back of my lux that had the lsd in it ( the lokka for lsd diffs is slightly different to non-lsd) ...the lokka uses some of the parts from the lsd for the install..yeh it makes all the big noises sometimes but has been in for 2 years now with no problems and seems to be quieter and a little better behaved than me mates non lsd lokka... only problem(?) is that the pinion feels a little sloppy due to the lsd parts.

Was directed to this thread from another and i would like to add to this.

I have since this thread was last replied to found that these are actually a different designe to the LOKKA but yes they are made by the same company but under licence from a US company. AUSSIE LOCKER beleive that this is an improved design on all other auto lockers on the market.
