Want to start a thread asking what alternator you run - brand and model, off what, rating, cost and possible sources etc?
Want to build an info list of possible options for me and others!!! If we get a good list compiled I will get it up on a www somewhere.

On a Rangie, I run a Bosch 90 amp. Looked up the part number and it was supposedly for a VK commodore

Easiest fit is Bosch 85 amp from a Magna, about 90. I had to change from multi rib to vbelt pulley, but the adjuster and ears are just about correct. You have to extend the adjuster by about 2 inches on a 92 Range Rover .
The Magneto Marelli (Lucas) pulley will not fit so have a rummage at the electrician where you buy it. Cost was $200 plus $40 to install a field wire for the tacho. Pulley on mine is about 68MM (smallest I could find)compared to 62MM Rangie so tacho reads slow 10 %.
Oh! it helps to grind the bracket where the alternator hits it to be able to use the original belt. You cannot pull it far enough in to get the belt on otherwise.

Do not be confused by my second alternator. Look at the lower pics. Not a great view but you can see the extension on the adjuster.

Defender 300 tdi factory alternator seized.
Had real problems getting the old one off and ended up having to pull the rad and intercooler to get access to the bolts and used rattle gun and hammer on them. Mate from work is an auto lec and managed to get a Iskra brand one made in slovakia for $120. Mounting holes were about an eightth of an inch too long and we fitted it using a piece of scrap steel from a windscreen washer linkage with a small dogleg on the bottom hole. Needed a longer serpentine belt and ended up using a 7P1590 which was 10 mm longer than the factory one.
