Stuttering 'Runner (93)

G'day,
For everyone that isnt out beaking stuff this weekend (like me if your still paying off the last adventurë), i've got a few questions about a 4 Runner that my mate is buying.

It's a 3lt V6, and it was stuttering and hessitating from 1000-2000 revs in second even in with very light acceleration, and the engine was not under load. I understand that it's not a very torquey block, but it was occuring in 3rd as well under light acceleration just under 2000 revs. The other 4 Runners we've driven have not have this problem.

Any ideas? The guy reckons its been serviced regularly, but with EFI could it be an ignition problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with the simple things like plugs, leads and distributor cap.

This model has a soft/porous block problem, when you blow a head gasket you need to surface the block as well.
I tell my customers to avoid them and get a Pathfinder or Pajero instead.
