Leaves in the front and Coils in the rear!

hahaha, ok, well, didnt think of that

at the moment the zook runs a spoa with the std soft leaves, im told to modify the set-up and add some coils to assist with load and not sacrifice flex, so where POS runs either front to rear, ill be runnin both at the front and both in the rear, failing that, i have had good and bad experiences with both leaf and coil systems. Personal preference comes into it i suppose and once agin, what application they will be used with, ie, load carrying or flex etc etc

i like leaves but i think ill eventually end up with coil rear but i gunna try a few more different leaf setups out back yet...... but will definately stay with a leaf front

i voted other because i figured that a wildly innacurate specualtion by bezerk, coupled with my own confusin and stupid answer would make others see the light.

This question is so broad and general that no real answer is possible and "other" seems to be the best way to describe it!

I like the simple leafs, but they are more expensive generally than coils to do small lifts and don't ride as well (generally)....
I've got both in the garage - but what i'd rather is Coil overs or even better airbags

I have coils all round.

Nice & soft compared to the suzuki we had which was al leaf.

COILS...the leafs just suck!

I'd have to agree wit hypolux.
To add to that... I don't have any experience in coils. I don't mind the ruggedness that you get from leaf springs. It kind makes it more fun when you get thrown around a bit. You wanna feel a bit of action.
I've heard mixed thaughts on leafs at the front & coils in the back. people saying that the ruggedness of the leafs makes the coils work only & tends to throw the cabin into gnarly angles.
Coils look pretty cool tho...especially after seeing Jeremy's 4runner work.

But there's something to say about the good ol leafs. They've been around for donkeys years. And really like the challenge of working out how to get leaf spring to flex as good as alot of coil setups

hypolux is right i think ill stay with leafs, but coils. the choices.

Hypolux is only sayin that cause hes been out driven a number of times by a coil rig and eventually he will be gettin out driven by another coily

Ive only eva had coils and now ive got another with the same just alot bigga So coils r tha go but they can get ya into trouble on side slopes if tha too soft

Considerin RUFFS comment at TTC bout the coils in da zook (Said they looked like coils off return to centre stabaliser)

I go with POS leaf front and coil rear, his toyota works as good as any ive seen.

For any of you wondering what all the hype [haha- GET IT] is about the hypolux, it's because you won't find a better leaf setup, no drop shackle, buggy leaf, bullshit.....just plain old leaves. Hat's off to Ben for putting in the hours setting it up properly !!!
Although the surf has pretty good travel, mostly in the rear - [same pic as toyota section] it would NEVER outdrive the hypolux..... I wish that last year when i was first thinking of setups for the front, that i had listened to sam, ruff and bj, guys with much more experience than i, telling me to go with leaves. If i was to do it over again, it would be leaves all the way.
