Just bought a sportage, picking it up Monday. It 's a 99 2L manual, silver in colour.
Would like to hear from other owners about extras to add and what is available and any problem to look out for.
One question - What would you advise about putting on a bullbar, and the effects on the (drivers Side) airbag.
TIA Mrs Mck

Don't know about Sportage but TJM and ABR have bullbars designed for 4bies with airbags.

Not much in Oz is there.....
The ARB/TJM/ECB bars all have too much depth to them in front of the front wheels. If you are going to buy one, then get them to do a trim of the outer lower edges up to ~2" fron the top to about the mount along the bottom edge, with some reinforcing alluminium welded in the the cutout section for strength. Not winch compatable.
Spring lift is quite easy (2.5"), as is larger tyres (235/75R15 fit onto the standard rims without any body/plastic trimming) 31X10.5 with a bit of creative trimming of plastic and metal near the firewall.
Have a look through my thread (DamKia...), and also look at
this board for heaps of tech.
Lockers are available (F&R), a 35 mm bodylift is relatively straightforward. No alternate Tcase gearing is available AFAIK (if you have a friend that speaks/writes Korean they may be able to find something on the SK sites).
If it has vacuum operated hubs GET RID OF THEM!!!! They
will fail......(warn hubs are $360 for the full manuals, AVM also manufacture a repacement full manual.
Be aware that the ECU is in the passenger side footwell under the soles of their feet, and not waterproof
Powerchip have an ECU upgrade that gives about 10-11% improvement in pwr/trq. New exhaust will improve things (rear muffler wil be on its last legs)
