Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Had a quick search and couldnt find anything about this refering to a 2.8td.

Was on the highway yesterday and i was doing 120 or so, revs were up the 3200 3400 mark, and i noticed the temp needle shoot up. I lifted the foot off the pedal and temp came back down. It wasnt a hot day and all my fans were working fine.
I checked the coolant, its topped up intercooler fan was running, everything was ok.

I tried it again, and sure enough, when i get that high in the rev range temp shoots up.

any ideas?

if you are going to say dont drive so quick or anything like that, dont bother replying.

look into reduction gears, thats the only way you're gonna stop overheating cause a sustained 3400rpm must be putting a lot of stress on your engine/drivetrain...

i must admit, the gearing on the 2.8 is quite close. But ive never had this problem before, fastest ive been on this is 170 at 4500 rpm without a problem, or the slightest movement of the temp needle.

sorry mate i re-edited. was gonna say, 120 aint that fast even my mq with it's 4spd and SD33 can sit on a comfortable 135 without getting TOO hot...

Sounds like you may have a partially stuck thermostat or the radiator is blocked.

is this in a GQ or GU,

if it is in the GU, id seriously check your intercooler fan, and air flow through your intercooler,

Withought this air flow, the enginebay heat wil be absorbed by the intercooler, and will infact heat the air entering the engine, casing combustion temps to keep rising.

also air frol through radiator and coolant levels

also check radiator for leaks
