Hi all,
I have a 1985 Rangie with a 5 speed manual witch I just gave a 2" body lift and took the high/low range lever off to lengthen it a bit. Problem is I can't line up the linkages properly .I have a manual for a 1987 Rangie but it shows a diferent transfer case set up (LT230). Can anyone give some advice on the subject.
Thanks in advance

1985 should be LT77 with an LT230 t/case. As far as different model LT230's go, I don't believe they changed how the hi/lo and diff lock linkages connect to the LT230. R380 has slightly different linkages between lever and the LT230.

The linkages naturally drop down and can bind/lock on surrounding parts. I can only suggest that you jiggle them around till they line up. It can be a bitch to get the clevis pins in though.

The clevis pin goes on ok but the problem is the selector shaft that the other linkage goes on that comes out of the top of the box is about 30mm round and is splined and the linkage is splined also. this means that the linkage can be put on in different spots(should of marked it when I took it off) I haven't got a moter in it at the moment as I'm converting it to 4.4 so I guess that I'll have to line it up the best I can and when the motor is back in I will try it then

OK, I think you are referring to the hi/lo selector on the LT77.

I just had a look at one I took out recently. With the selector lever fully forward (low range), the lever that the link connects to is approximately vertically below the selector shaft

Troy, just to clarify matters. Your transfer case is an LT230, the gearbox is the LT77.

The gear shift and transfer shift levers are mounted on top of the gearbox (LT77).
