Carbi 4 chev MQ

Post by junior »

Hey guys,
I Need some advice on a carbi set up for me MQ swb 350 plz. I currently have a Quadi on it which was fine on the 307 for the 20 mins of drivin time  but on the bigger cube engine its not liking it to much. The motor has edlebrock performer manifold,1 inch spacer and a mild cam (slight lumpyness).
I was thinking of going an edlebrock carbi which is basically a Quadi copy, refined alittle.
Ive been told to go a Holley 600 Vac secondry. Im confused cos ive heared that the Holleys aren't to good for off road use (is this correct ?)
Or are they ok with a few little mods done to the floats and breather tubes?
I may end up running duel fuel later on but do not intend on going straight gas at all.
I have got a few prices for ya info,Holley 600 $350 (Remanufactured)
Edlebrock Carbi $350 to$400 (new) and To rebuild me Quadi $300.
What yas think
All help greatly appreciated

Regards

Junior,

coming down ur wat tomorrow again  give me a buzz.

anyways,

The quadrajet should be fine.
they are better ofroad than a non modified holley.....
holley flood and starve depending on up or down hill climbs etc....
quadrajet are a little better......

I paid $200 to have my quadrajet fully reconditioned.... and still have it sitting on the work bench as i only fitted it breifly until i went straight LPG....... its only missing the bottome plate, which u can use ur own, if ur interested before 6 am tomorrow give us a buzz and ill bring it down.......

short of that, id prefer quadret for offroad over holley, but holley are simple to rebuild, cheaper and do a good job on anything apart from big angles........

Holleys arent worth the alloy they are made of
they dont work well in off road rigs unless they have been modded and even then IMO they suck compared to a Rochester.....
dribble and squirt performance only from a holley !

price around for a good supplier, they are out there ;)

better still grab Jefricals ...the price seems fair

Kingy

Jeff .....bring ya discount card for work with ya ;)
need bearings and shocks for the coils ya bringing
