Extended Shackle queries

Hey all just after a few snippets of advice. In the middle of making me some extended shackles...I have decided on a length of 150mm pin to pin which equates to a length change of 50mm on the rear shackles and 75mm on the front shackles.

Firstly: Does this sound ok?

Secondly: Are the rear shackles generally longer than the front ones?
(HJ61 Cruiser - by the looks of them the rears aren't standard)

Thirdly: With this length difference castor angles shouldn't be affected to dramatically should they.

Fourthly: 50x8mm flat braced by 50x25x2.5 RHS sound ok?

Cheers....

Talk to an engineer. Extending shackles requires an engineering signatory....

We recently made some extended shackles for a mates 60 (hj60 with standard leaves). We just made the front and rear 50mm longer. Worked heaps better than factory (also ditched swaybar at the time).
Keep in mind that extended shackles are ILLEGAL on the road. An engineer may sign off on them, but this doesnt make them legal!!!!

Dont see why not.. its your professional ass on the line if you stuff up on your own vehicle making it unsafe etc.

Id imagine who ever you obtain your professional indemnity insurance through probably wouldnt like it :?

shouldnt need castors in a hurry, had shackles in mine and didnt bother with castor plates for like 6 months, put 3 dgreee ones in and cant hardly notice the difference.. but for 75 buks they are prob a good idea..

if u drop the front hangers as much as u extend your shackles you wont need castor plates as the whole setup is being moved down not jsut one side

it doesnt matter if they are snake or not, an extended shackle is still an extended shackle
