Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Considering putting these on my truck, I'd be interested to know how people like them.

How do they perform on/off road, how noisey on the road, how do they wear?

I'd be particularly interested to hear from anyone who can compare them to the Cooper ST as I'm happy with them, but I would like something slightly more aggressive, but not really noisey on the road.

I have MTRs on my two 4wds and they are great as a semi agressive tyre.
Dont expect too much out of them in real sticky mud.
They make a bit of the typical mud tyre hum but not too bad.
Overall they work well on rocks, sand, dirt and road but clog up a bit in mud.

As per Ausyota, I have found them to be very good on the rock, and perform well especially for the price tag.

They are good for an all round yre, but for hardcore comp, would look alse where

Yep I second that.... Got heaps of km's out of them, although they are getting a little noisier with age, still heaps of tread remaining after 50thou km's.
Cant complain about that and pretty puncture resistant too.

I have them and they are great. But I think the MTR has a comparison to every other tyre on the market throughout this section of the forum. Spend some time going through all the topics on MTRS and you will find a heap of info.

I went from 31x10.5-15 S/Ts to 285/75-16 MT/Rs. I have a balance problem with the MT/Rs (which could be cheap steel rims) and noise may have been slightly more than the S/Ts, but they're still not what I consider bad - at highway speed the exhaust is louder than the tyres.

Offroad I don't believe there's much between them for performance, but I'm not a rock crawler.

I think my next tyres will be STTs.

Sounding good anyway... I was parked next to a zook wearing a set recently so I could see the two together and the wranglers looked that bit more aggressive, but not like a bfg...which I don't want cos of road noise.

MTR's are relatively easy to balance which results in good kms in the long run. They are noisy, but that comes as the tread reduces. They are good on rocks, however poor in mud. IMO best of both worlds, however it depends on what you want.

Unless I am stupid. I tried searching under 'wrangler mtr' and 'wrangler tyres' and all I got was a string of irrelevant results.

whoo back tige....I share your fustration with the search function, and unless you have a good idea of what the post was and who posted from actually reading the thread when it was posted, I have not had any luck.

In saying that bogged and others sarcasic remarks don't actually mean they don't know anything, rather they are just heckling for a rise out of peoples

Very rarely will it be under a heading matching your search phrase exactly My mates run mtr's and they're really good in anything dry/ high traction... ie rock. Mud will make em pretty useless though

I have them, love them, and will get them again, have been pricing them recently in 33's.

noisier than my swampers on the road

they roared (35x12.5x15) on the road anywhere.

I had to pull a mates navara up a hill with my swampers after it broke a steering arm.. and they had no wheelspin at all.. just hauled the broken ute up the rutted hill.

Whilst he repaired the car, i took my lil boy back home to his mum and returned with my MTR's (didnt want to wear out my swampers) and he told me that he'd need another lift the rest of the way out to upper ormeau road.

Not a problem.. the MTR"s couldnt even pull him up a dirt hill.. just spun sideways... no traction at all.

The only positive thing about them - awesome on rocks.. 2 wheelspins sent them hot and smoky and grippy and ready to bite on rocks.

Just my opinion.. others will differ thats for sure.

Good on rocks and sand.
Clog up with mud.

Had mtrs 285/75s on my cruiser i was not that impressed. Got 50 ks out of them. If you want a good allrounder you can't beat BF/goodrich mud-terrain

Excellent tyres.

I have found them great on road and off, in mud they're not great, but I don't play in the mud often. Good thick sidewalls too.

I got 35's and found them great.

But when you look at the sidewall thickness of the BFG's then MTR's it explains why so many people do in the KO's!

I have them, i think they are excellent. Even onroad. But they're not at noisy as i'd like them to be for the muddie bling bling when cruising. Hey, i have a softtop so i can't hear em' anyway

My MT/R's are almost worn out and I haven't noticed more noise.In fact I think they were noisier when they were new(or maybe I got used to the noise now and noticed more noise when I got them as I had BFG AT before them)
I've done 37000km on them so far and will be replacing them at around 40000km.Other than fast wearing I haven't got any complaints on them and will be getting them again.

Maybe I would not care if I was able to drive my patrol for the last six months so I could have gradually got used to it.
But after driving a car for that time I am really noticing now I have it back. Just have to get used to it again...

I think I would buy another set - if they ever wear out.

but they are good on dirt/gravel roads, and rocks etc. they have been good to me, and i haven't had a puncture with the MT/Rs. reasonable on sand, but they need to be aired right down. (i drive a suzuki)
