The heat talked about is from the brake when using winch to power
out while holding the weight of the fourby.
Not really a problem when winching in.
So unless you plan on lowering yourself over cliffs it should be fine.
Paul.
PS Im no expert its just what I been told

I guess it depends on the type of plasma rope, but the Amsteel Blue rope has been tested under severe heat conditons on the winch and never has a problem.

I sell some with braided protective sheath over the plasma bit. A few people are now using it on slow mounts, and it appears to be AOK

WOW, i can't believe people understood what the hell you were saying!!
I don't think its a issue, maybe for the winch Challenge guys that use their winches all the time. But other than that i have heard that its not a problem!!

Plasma and rocks do not mix, I have seen that many break when being used on rocks it isn`t funny.
If doing winch challenges then yes it is worth the $$$ but if you play mainly on the rocks then no it isn`t.
But to answer your question scotty, yes it can be used on low mounts. Its not recommended because of the extra heat but that is mainly the makers of it covering their arses.

Thank you
So is the mounting bolts for a high mount in the same location as low mounts then
and for rocks, where the rope will be pulling on over rock leager (?) and alike, will rub thou and break the plasma unlike steel whick will cop it of a lot longer?

You've just gotta be a little careful in rocks, & put something protective underneath sometimes.
For self recovery, its easy. The cable is stationary, you're winding yourself along it.
Its recovering others that does the damage. Your car is now stationary, & you're dragging the cable over those rocks towards you.
The other heat issue with plasma & low mounts, apart from melting / lowering the breaking strain of the cable, is the heat dispersion from the winch. Wire rope acts as a heat sink, getting rid of some that heat buildup, whereas plasma acts as an insulator.
So the theory goes anyway.

The Rockstomper rope has a movable 10m protective guard you can use to prevent abrasion.

As I said, the stuff I sell has a protective sheath over it
