LSD diffs

Hi all

Am thinking of putting LSD's in the front and back of my car.

Just after a bit of an idea on how available these would be, and how much I would expect to pay.

Would I be better saving my money for a locker instead?

Would I be better running 4.8 ratio diffs rather then 4.56 ratio diffs when I put 33's on my car?

Thanks,

Stew

Stew,

I drove around with an LSD rear for about 8 months prior to getting the lockers installed. Off-road, whilst the LSD was vastly better than the open front, but as was previously mentioned, once forward momentum ceased or a wheel was lifted, the LSD opens and you are stuck with your original problem of cross-axle spinning. However on-road you can't go past the LSD. With the normally open ARB diff centre my hilux does not handle anywhere near as good especially in the wet. So unless you do alot of on-road driving I'd save up for the locker, well worth the investment.

However, if you really want it, I've got an LSD centre that was only used for about 50,000Kms before I changed to the ARB. No rust, perfect working order.

Regards,
Bart

I can't speak for the front, but with the LSD in the rear, I used to pull the handbrake on a few clicks which seemed to provide enough traction on the spinning wheel to allow some forward motion. Nothing compared to the lockers though .
Even with the lockers, the rear is still doing all the work. I only ever leave the rear locked-up, the front stays open 90% of the time.
The front only gets locked for special occaisions...

Killalux, you want an LSD for the rear? Your lux is an RN105 isn't it?
