Hey guys....

the rear shock set up on a 79 is pretty pi** poor for articulation...prob same for most models.... anyhow.. Im doing the Hilux centre thing and when I reinstall the rear diff I wanna move the rear shocks to somewhere that allows DROOP....
Ive been talking with Bill ( Daddylonglegs) and he has some gr8 ideas and experiance and Ill prob consult him further when Im actually doing the conversion But I thought Id see if anyone else had any good ideas.....

I was thinking 45deg both front mount but things are in the way.... anyway let me know if you have a special set up and pics would be GR8...

How much travel you looking for.

relocate the top mount easy.

10 or 12 inch shock is more than enough.

like michael said,
move both mounts foward of the axle iff possible like a defender
(i think you can??)
make new top mounts and use/make a pin to eye convertor for the bottom mount.
this gives you access to a greater range of longer travel shocks.
(like the ford louisville monroe shocks 781 open 453 closed 328 travel,12.9")-$180 a pair
bills got some good ideas hey, his 3 link front jobs work rather well

yeah forward is the go...
so do you think keeping the mounts on the chassis rails is the way or fabbibg a xmember and mounting front and in?

Yeah bill knows his stuff....and a gr8 guy to boot...

you can mount the shocks / \ like toy guys do on rolluxes.
one of the american rover sites advertises a kit including crossmember to do this on 90's because they have side tanks(series style).
could be rovertym's or east coast rovers site, i'm not sure at the moment.
i gues you would need a fairly heavily valved shock because of the leverage differences.
