Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Anyone done a home turbo kit on their TD42 ? By that I mean, buying a turbo, building a manifold etc? What has it cost you to do it?

hey dude.. if u want my honest oppinion..u wont save much not buying a kit..and then u have to think will all this really work and hold up together? my cousin (zebel of the board) spent about a month researching all this stuff and in the end bought a complete kit from west end deisel and fitted up me and him in about 3/4 day...comes with every nut bolt screw hose pipe etc needed for fitting including 3 inch mandrel dump and 1/2 exhaust.

i can get some amazing prices on turbo kits supply only and turboglide (in wollongong nsw) has a pretty unbeatable deal on supply and fit..just came to the conclusion that west end was closer to home and therefore easier to deal with....

id say buy a kit for peice of mind as they have done all the hard work for u in terms of r&d and fabbing up ...

Have done this before (check out Sparky's truck in members) but it is probably not a cost saving in any way. We did it for better performance reasons so used fairly expensive (quality) bits. PM me for more info if interested.

I agree with the others on savings.. there wouldnt be much.

The kits these days have everything 'just about perfect'. no screwing around with bullshit 20 times to get them right. just buy it and fit it, and all fits up straight away.

Theres nothing in fitting one.. have done 2 with mates, and both were a piece of piss.
Then take it to somewhree that knows their shit to get the thing sorted out PROPERLY.

A mate and I have built turbo kits for each of our trucks....wouldn't bother again. Making exh manifolds is the hardest part and is a PITA but we built them for less than $1000 including purchase of the turbo.

For all the time and effort involved, its just as cheap to buy a kit straight off DTS or other manufacturer.
