G'day all
On my NH the air intake goes from the front and ponits out fron behind the drivers side head light then passes along some tubing, into the front guard then out through some more tubing then into the air filter box.
Now my question is>it looks as if were the tubing that goes through the front guard it is either missing a part or its dropped away from were it joins up,now this could be good for water not getting in from the front of the intake but it also could be bad because im not getting a ram flow effect?now before i take the inner guard off to ava ganda at it what do you guys think?
Gav
ps cant afford a snorkel......................yet

Hey Locknut, I thought about moding the intake on my NH before I bought a snorkel so I had a good look at it. The intake pipe is in a bit of a stupid spot but I couldn't really see a better place that would make a huge difference. I think that if you remove the round canister that bolts to the radiator support panel, you should be able to see if the tube is connected. From there on in you will have to remove the inner guard. At least where it is you can see whether it's obstructed or not. I saved up, bought the snorkel and fitted it myself to save dough. I'd save up or look for a second handie from the wreckers. At least then you'll get rid of most of the other intake rubbish anyway.

I made my own snorkle from 3 inch mandrel bent exaust tubing. When straight through the front gard and into the airbox. all up it cost $30 bend including welding it all together (3) $80 for the snorkle top $20 for the hole to be drilled and $3 each (5) for the nut riverts then another $20 for paint, all up $225 about 1/4 the cost of the plastic one.

The only problem i have had is doing a climb car slid slidwise snorkle hit the bank and pushed the pannel in. Managed to straighten it mostly out just by pulling on the snorkle.
