TACHO PULSING ?

jumped in the GQ today and the tacho was bouncing between 600 and 800 RPM like it was pulsing ????

it only happens on idle and if u put a bit of throttle into it it sit steady again

got me stumped whats going on

any ideas ????

TB42 engine ;)

engine revs were going between 600 and 800 ............. :finger: :armsup: :D :D

yeah pulsating on idle it normally sits steady on 600

it was like like a current spike going thru it :?

ok, no more smart arse.........are the revs actually fluctuating, or is it just the taco reading that changes?

revs dont change only the tacho readout is spiking :oops:

All three of my Nissans have been like that, I don't know why either. Mystery :!:

Check the vacuum advance on the dizzy i think that is what was making mine do it

nope pirana elec. ignition

some one said the regulator on the alternator might be on its way out ???

tacho problem. just go by the hard revs to change gears

Well im not sure where the pick up is for the tacho.. will look it up tomorrow at work... if it is in the alternator, which more than likly it is have the starpoint checked for back connections on the rectifier plate... i have seen faulty diodes do this in alternators...
