Unfortunately my speedo broke (hopefully it's just the cable... i'm getting a new one in a couple of days)

So i lifted the bonnet to look if i could adjust it and discovered where my radiator was leaking from.. the top. Which would explain why i always found a pool of green fluid in the plastic guard under the radiator but neswpaper did not reveal it's source as it only leaked when the negine hit boiling poin.

Anyway i would like to replace my radiator as it's a bit rusty and the mounts are showing rust too.

I'd like to replace it with an new one and not a second hand ones as the way i see itif this one lasted 12yrs before neeeding replacement getting a new 'rust free' one should give me another 10 and for the peace of mind it's worth spending the extra money

What i would like to know is should i buy an OEM or something else?
My only consideration is sometime in the future i would like a Gti engine so now would be the time to up the Radiator to suit the conversion. (Providing the radiator mounts in the factory engine mounts)

Thanks all i did search but it was vague or required a lot of assumed knowledge

where did you end up getting that from Nick? That's not a bad price.

Got it from Covs. Cap price. i love m8s prices.

it is a aftermarket brand, and i did not want to much around much with fitting another one. I think it is a ABR brand. Cheapest i found elsewhere was about $290inc

Looks ok, fitting a thermo as well as the engine fan to push some more air through in the sand.

cheers

Vitara radiator with the plastic end tanks is a good upgrade

A sierra rad in good nic will cool a 1.3 or 1.6. or maybe I had a freak. I never had issuse's keeping my mildly worked 1.6 cool with the 1.3 radiator, even when a bit blocked up with mud..

See what it is worth to get yours re-cored by a shop ..

Is the plastic really a "won't rust" only consideration?

A few people don't like the platic tanks as they can explode?

I think Christova had a issue with one of these.

Mines in now and seems good. was going for a thermo as well but the one i have got is bigger than the rad and the bonnet latch is in the way. damn.

cheers
