Go tough dog 9 stage adjustable shocks im very happy with mine, i have no real body roll on setting 5 on road and is very comfortable and no sway bars at the moment

I would really recommend pro comp as i have them on for a few years now and have had no problem. Although they are not adjustable they are good on road they do not give much body roll and they do not restrict off road and they cab take the weight of a patrol.

Why don't you go dobinsons for the shocks as well??? I have them un my GU and they work a treat. I've been impressed by them so far and they make shockies for a 4in lift to bolt straight on.

I was told by Redlands today that Dodinson's make very good shocks but they don't make them long enough for their 4" coils.
WTF?

Nah that's not true. They make shocks to suit a 4in lift on a patrol. I just got some 6in springs off them but had to modify the shock mounts a bit to fit the 4in lift shockies. I was going to lift the shock mounts anyway so it all worked well. I'm very impressed with the performance of the shocks. They haven't bottomed out yet but maybe I'm not driving hard enough.

We'll see how they go in the outback challenge.

SURELY running 4" shocks on a 6" lift is limiting your wheel travel? Relocating shock mounts or not...
I just changed my fronts to TDs and as was mentioned up the top, I have them on setting 5 and they are great so far (3 weeks). I havent had the chance to ramp them yet, but I reckon that it will be a lot better than it was. If you have $1k to spend, go the TDs. They are about $260 ea and you will be very impressed with them. Whatever you do, ask the professionals before you buy anything. They usually know, if you ask enough of them.

The springs sit loose by about 10mm when at full stretch front and rear and with the shocks being for a 4in lift they compress further than a longer shock so wheel travel is pretty good and the bump stops don't have to be as big either. Works really well. To be honest though it was more good luch than good planning

I spoke to dobinsons last Thursday and they definately sell shocks to match their 4 inch springs....but shocks are out of stock for another two weeks at least.

For 4 inches lifted to 6-7 inches lifted go Dobinsons springs and Procomp shocks. (Dobinsons shocks are good if you could find them at that length).
Procomps are very good value for $120.00 each. Go Dobinsons Springs $170.00 a pair. (Add $40 if you want extra heavy duty Rear).
So all up for a 4" to 6-7" Springs and shocks it's $820.00
Give me a bell when you want them with your post code for your freight quote

I have had 2 mates with Dobinsons coils, one with about 4" in a GQ and one with about 6" in a GU, and both have sagged quite a bit, without any REAL heavy towing. The GU owner has just fitted coil spacers to get the height back again. Both instances happened within 12 months of fitting.
I think this could be an issue with these coils, but I have had no real personal experience. Maybe just 2 cases of bad luck?

With the 6in coils that I've got I had a choice of 3 different sizes ie. normal, heavy duty and extra heavy duty. I went with heavy on the front cause of all the extra crap on there and normal for the rear cause of the shortened tray etc. It drives really well and flexes quite well also. When your friends bought thier springs did they tell them about the towing and heavy loads???? When you buy springs you should go in with the vehicle packed for what you intend the springs to be used for. If you have springs that give you a good ride around town with the kids and shopping then you will stuff the springs if you load it up for towing or camping etc. It's hard to compromise with springs because of the vastly different driving conditions that 4wd's are used for. A mate of mine had a wizard 7in lift in his patrol wagon for about 18 months and when he took the springs out they weren't much taller than my 4in lift springs. Both springs were made by king springs.

People have said this about all springs unless you get heavier springs. Springs do settle a bit (especially at these heights and with the 4WDing we do) but sagging quite a bit isn't good. The trick is balancing what articulation you want with the weight of the vehicle. Any manufacturer can make a spring that doesn't sag but are we going to be happy with the articulation. If we have steel bullbars and a winch than I will recommend Extra Heavy Duty straight up, but not everybody wants this.
Cheers

Yeah my mate used the wagon for some comps so he got the soft springs on purpose. They settled at about 5in in 18 months. They were fairly even after they saged though.

As I stated in my original post. Both vehicles are shopping trolleys 13 days a fortnignt, and on the other day they might see a load that I would class as small. Maybe a couple of bags and kids for a weekend away once a month, totaling NOTHING like a camper or heavy load.
One tows a camper trailer for a week (maybe 500km trip). These are by no means heavy duty applications.
BTW, these are both wagons...

Freeway? Bah Humbug. Rough as guts that is. Mate with the GQ lives up near Coffs Harbour.
Speaking of which, has anyone noticed how ROUGH the road join is when heading southbound onto Mooney Mooney Bridge? Only in the last 2 mnths since they resurfaced. My Rex has 18s and it thumps hard if I go down there at over 60ks. #^^*# RTA.

The Australian suppliers are telling me that they are getting a few failures in mx-6 adjustable shocks in the lifted Nissan's, so they are not recommending them. The ES9000 is the shock to get for a lifted Patrol. No doubt in my mind anyway. Other shocks have too many failures or they don't do anything above 2 inches,

I guess it's like I have said before. Don't believe the first dealer you chat to. Look at the number of ppl on this forum running PCs on about 4".
There are plenty of ppl runing both PC and TD, with 3-5 inch lifts. Ask someone to take you for a ride near where you live and you will get an idea of what they're like.
