tuning tb42 with lpg

i had gas installed in december on my fuel injected tb42 (not dual fuel)
its an impco kit which uses a neoprene sock to cover two holes in an inlet pipe which feeds the gas into the intake manifold.
the holes are there so that when the motor backfires, the majority of the blast shoots out the two holes and doesnt damage the lpg mixer
the problem is, the neoprene sock has corroded and fallen apart effecting the idle,
i had to dumby up a makeshift jobby on the weekend to get me home
anyone else had problems with this ?
