Side Steps / Rock Sliders

Hi all

Took the Jack up into the Brindies over the Easter break and gave it a good workout. :D Unfortunately i managed to bend the paper thin aluminium excuses for side steps that are fitted to it.

The steps did their job and protected the stills but now i'm looking for a more solid proposition.

Does anyboy know of solid off the shelf steps/sliders that i can get for my 97 Jack, have a design that they are willing to part with or reputable companies that will make a set of them up preferably in the ACT/ Southern NSW region?

Cheers
Beeno

I would love to be out trying to bend the sills on the ol' Jack but work is absolutely flat out this time of year. Would like to get some protectors fabbed up too but its kind of not a high priority as the Jacks got plenty of clearance and tends to miss pretty much everything...

Maybe you could do a search in the main tech section for metal fabrication firms and something might come up... or Roedao made some of his own up. Send him a PM and he might be able to give some ideas.

Good luck!

Noel

just another thing i thought about if you are going to do a body lift you may want to do it before the sliders/steps because if you do the sliders first youd have to modify them so they will look right

Good point. Didn't think of that. Ah well looks like i'll have to get that body lift sooner rather than later :D

What ! I don't worry about the sills. It will cost me $500 to fix them with insurance, got quoted $650 for rock sliders, you do the maths.

I have not seen any off the shelf type sliders but steel side steps would be around $550 and $750 for lightweight sliders, that is custom made and fitted for you

beeno,

i had the same problem with the steps on mine. i decided to build my own sliders as no one had an off the shelf set for jacks. i had already done the body lift so fitting was easy, as once the body is lifted it exposes the chassis rails under the sills. mine were made from 50*50 steel tube with the flat mounting points being 10mm thick flat bar. the whole lot is then bolted through the chassis with 12mm high ten bolts with backing plates. you can then attach youre alloy steps to these. pm if you want photos, but not a big job, just wash all the mud from the underside before working on it!!
