I read in the FAQ setion that it's possible to up the boost slightly on the 2.8TD. Any advice on how it's done.

thanks,

You can turn boost up by using a bleed valve which gets fitted to the turbo.
The problem is when you turn up boost it places more stress on engine internals and also creates higher intake temps.
Also it can Lean out the mixture and create a Lean burn.

I am not sure how strong engine internals are in diesel so I would not do this until you speak to a engine or turbo shop.

A small gain in boost pressure may not give much of increase in performance....

Just my 2 Cents worth

More boost doesent make more power. But it does allow more fuel to be added. This is where the power gains are to be had. How much boost can a paj motor take dont know sorry.

The 2.8TDI runs 13-14psi boost standard.
With 92kw & 292Nm and 4.90 diffs they chug along well and make good tow vehicles.
I would be looking at a snorkel, finer filter and 2.5" big bore exhaust and raise the boost 1-2psi. Also injector pump tuning is very important on these things to make for good running.
Raising the boost is easy you just T off the turbo wastegate hose and bleed off some extra boost this is done by using a ball valve before the T to dampen the flow down and then using a needle valve in the T section for fine tuning. This is like fooling the wastegate, it may take 15-16psi total boost for the wastegate to start to open because some is being bled off. Some guys plumb the T piece line back into the air filter box for a extra boost to the air inlet flow. Others plumb the needle valve into the cabin for adjustable boost. It is also advisable to fit a boost gauge along with a turbo timer.
These motors are quite robust and give good mileage if looked after so 1-2psi boost increase is well within it's limits. Some guys in the club have done the above mods and they go very well indeed even running 33"s.

thanks. I actually had a finer filter in the vehicle before but it fell apart and I couldn't get another at the time.

The turbo waste gate hose; is that the one from the turbo inlet which is abone .25 inch in diameter ?
