Shouldn't think it would be illegal. Fj 30, 40, 45 etc series Landcruisers were built with interior fuel tanks for decades

i havent installed LPG for a while but up until the time i stopped it was legal to install the tank in the rear of a wagon as long as the venting was in good workin order (no obstructions or kinks) and any gas leaks would vent to the out side of the car

its legal. look at all the wagons out there with em. even sedans have them in the boot which can be open to the cab if back seat is down.

it is illegal if it isnt tied down properly, same goes for us plumbers with our oxy gear, if it is just rollin round in the back its all over for your plumin license but if it is tied down poperly then it is fine. just goin on what my boss has told me over and over and over again

I had one in a Bronco, it was legal but had to ensure the venting off the tank where all the valve are was directed out side the cab, so it couldn't vent into the cab, so make sure all that is correct before purchasing.
Cheers,
Paul

when you look at the GAS tank sitting in the back of the car it should have a rectangular box with a clip on cover on it. This box houses the valves for the tank, usually off either or both sides of this box there should be some flex hose running from the box down to the floor and through the floor (you can get underneath and have a look also). This makes any leakage or venting of the GAS go outside of the car rather than venting directly into the cab itself and making you crook.
Does that make sense?

Yeh its legal, but there are fitting regulations.
Like everyone said, it must be vented to outside the cabin for one.
The valve must be in a position so that it can be easily reached and turned off. For example if you had a tank in the boot of a falcon the valve cannot face the rear of the seats.
It must be secured properly, the rules governing that are in the standards but its too much hard work for me to get up and get them.
The basics are it must have at least 4 securing points with bolts and 75x75mm plates. Unless its certified to fit a bundy, which is a whole other story.
If its got the proper compliance plate for the lpg then you cant go wrong, just make sure the tank isn't close to or out of date, which is 10 years from testing date.
