Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I'm going to pull the injectors out of my Mav on Sunday and get them checked out next week. I have read how to do it in my manual and it doesn't look too hard. I was just wondering how long I should give myself to pull them out. Done quite a bit on petrol motors before, but this is my first diesel. 2-3 hours, half a day?

word of warning.............

When unscrewing the large nuts on the feul return ensure you have a spanner on the injector........If you don't you will do what I did on the Mk and whole injector came loose and broke the feul return line.

Simple mistake that caused a whole heap of grief and money to be spent.

Apart from that just pull the feul rails off and put aside. unscrew the injector nuts and the return rail will come off. then unscrew the inject like a spark plug. They should be flat underneath around the pin and not concave like my MK one were.....

Should be done every 100,000 but yours is pretty close anyway.....

Cool, so should only take about an hour or so? Do I need to replace any washers or seals when I refit them?

Injector place should give you all new washers........They will also give you a little copper washer that sits inside the hole where the injector goes but I was unable to get the old one out of the MK head and the guy advised not to worry about it and keep the old ones in there.

Let me know what they set you back when you get them done cause my MK ones cost $400 last year and the ones in my GQ are ready for reco at 140,000 kays.......

they do an exchange on them too.. you pick up new ones, go home fit em, then take old ones back, or they used to...

give them a call and pretend you want the job done, ask what you get for your $$ in detail, eg seals etc.. tat will tell u what you need to replcae.

i just got my ones done total $470.oo inc. gst ( td42 ) 6 of but that in bundaberg

BJ Diesel Injection service in Dandenong is the place to go if injectors need servicing. Carefull removing injector pipes--its easy to get dirt/plating from the pipes into injectors. Make sure you replace both copper washers--large one and small one.

Seriously when the injector is done up tight it squashes the washer and it is very difficult to extract.

i found a small seal pick works nicely to get these out

I heard a rumour that if you just crank the motor other it blows the buggers out. Is this true or is this bad idea.

prolly not a great idea ... don't ask me why tho

I can possibly source injector parts, pump parts (not complete units though), filter parts etc for almost anything. Give me part numbers or part descriptions and I'll see what I can do. Direct from wholesaler.

Screw in a bolt so the thread just picks up on the washer and pull out.
If you cant get new ones and the old ones come out just anneal with a blow torch to soften up again.
