I always think the prices in them Trader mags are TOP $!

One thing is these things are coming up at End of Lease.. happened 2 a couple of mates with their 4500's late last yr.. both had to come up with ~$17k to payout the lease, didn't have the coin so sold up...

Perfect trucks for donors. sell the 4.5 to comp dudes, and fit up that turbo 7.3 powermax :D

Guarentee you it was in very poor condition. Ive been looking at these myself and in Perth expect to pay at least 23K for something half decent.

Mate of mine in Brissie just picked up a 10/2002 4.2 turbo diesel DX with 106,000kms for only $18,000!!!!! ..... mind you it was an ex mines car but in all honesty, it wasn't the pile of shit I would have thought ... no rust .... had a roll cage in it as well with an incorporated cargo barrier ... but it drives lke new and with a couple thousand $$ spent it will be immaculate ... he is very happy

Cheers

If they stay above ground they probably arnt to bad. But the under ground ones I wouldn't touch. Talking to some guys the other week that maintain them. They are driven in hub deep high salt content (it is nearly 20 times saltier then sea water). And the drive out is 12km with the foot to the floor in low3rd and sometimes changing down to low 2nd. And this 75ute had rust on every thing.

Yeah that's similar to what I had heard ... most of them are rusted piles of shite by 3 years but this one must have been an above ground one (maybe that is why the cage was fitted??) where falling from a height might have been an issue (eg open cut mine). Anyway, no signs of rust on anything underneath or inside and it wasn't detailed before he brought it ... another mate of mine is a contractor up north way and they service the light to medium vehicles and he said they are serviced pretty regularly where he works so i guess there are good ones and bad ones ... like I said, he is very happy ... so he should be the lucky bastard!!

I have a cousin who works in the mines and she gets paid an allowance for the deterioration of her car because the minerals, salt etc and shit absolutely eat the arse out of the cars paint and panel and well, everything....
And thats not even driving underground... thats just for having to drive it to work...

As for prices, just go look at trading post... www.tradingpost.com.au or carpoint www.carpoint.com.au or www.carsales.com.au

Or yeah, go by 4x4 trader. I seem to feel that the ads in that magazine have been advertised for ages and havent sold so they put it in there to advertise to the rest of australia. Prices do seem to be fairly high...

As for mine, 2000 GU 3.0 TD Bull bar, Spotties, Airbags, TX4400 UHF, etc for 20k! (only cos im buying it off my old man tho :P )

GU's Eh..

3wj wreckers in sydney HAD a 4.2 NA wagon with winch and dual air lockers for 17k. It seemed to have slight damage to the side. If you didn't mind doing some work would have been perfect bargain.

But when I rang was already gone..

Have seen ex telstra wagons td42 na with 200K+ for $20k could haggle down to 17 - 18 me thinks. Weren't too rough. Vinyl interior still had A/C and were fairly comfortable.

That would be about right you could get a used white dx td42NA GU for 20k or under if you know where to look.
