A Commy efi V6 will have more power the an old carby 253. A efi v8 is far better in offroad conditions (on slopes) then a carby 253.

I use to have a 253 in my runner, it was crap. I now have a 304 V8 efi in it now. Much better  The V8 efi also uses a alot less fuel then the carby 253. If I was to do it again I would probably use a efi V6. Easier to fit and has enough power for the hilux.

If you are going to do a conversion use a efi motor, you will be happer in the long run.

There are a couple of us on here who have done the Lexus V8. Twisty_Toy (4Runner) has done a manual conversion and I am in the middle of doing it with the auto (Surf). It is a lot of work, but no major surgery is required - only eng/gearbox mounts ect (I make it sound so easy - if only  )

Just a thought.

Cheers

Mine was a 253 duralite pistons, balanced & 350 holley good power but got warm when really working it off road & on steep slopes the carby was a problem although you can get a plastic flute to put in the carby.

The v6 will have enough power as stated above & better fuel eco

No problems with overheating also

I've met ozrunner a couple of times and his 4runner is the best I've ever seen. He is always thinking of new mods to do, things you would never even think of.
