Im part way through installing a 98 disco motor in my 86 rangie and i only just realised the EFI harness has an engine imobiliser attached to it. I dont want to run the imobiliser so i need to bypass it. I also dont have the imobiliser its self its just the harness i have needs the imobiliser. Now all the wires going to the imobiliser are Black as they should be for an imobiliser but the plug at the end has numbers on it. Does anyone know which numbers need to be joined to get this running without the imobiliser?

I realy dont want to strip the harness to work this out :bad-words: :bad-words: Ive wired up a few 3.9s before in other vehicles but non have had the imobiliser :?

Suuuuure your putting it in a '83 rangie *cough* car jacker *cough* :D :D

I will check my service manual for you but I doubt it would have the imobiliser drawings in it.

Im pretty sure i have this sorted now. apperently a lot of the late Disco's had problems with the Imobiliser and there is a replacement plug that bypasses theis unit. Will see how i go with this. Its only $18 so its not much to lose if it doesnt work.

A little. Our Series One Discos over here have a habit (not overlly common) of the immobiliser crapping out which cuts power to the coil. The part number listed above is a "Spyder Bypass" which we plug in and away you go.

Just an update on this. I only got around to wiring this thing up today. As i was tied up with getting the Defender ready for TTC. This Plug worked perfect and now if anyone needs to know how to bypass this i can tell you which wires need to be joined. Although the bypass plug is available through LandRover or most Rover Parts suppliers for less than $20.

Got it all wired up in my 86 today and it runs perfectly. Its unbeleivable how much more power this has to my 3.5efi motor.
