Does anyone know where I can purchase a wheel bearing nut removal tool (50mm) in Brisbane? I have a 50mm socket, but there is not enough depth in the socket and it hits the axle shaft before reaching recommended torque. If you know the price, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks

It is definetely 50mm. As I have used the socket before, and that is what is states in my manual. It is for a 86 NT, so not sure if the WT is different. I have just finished looking at ABW catalouge, and smallest they make is 53mm.

Found this somewhere.
in perth but...
special tool:
if you only have a 1/2 inch drive:-
Transquip Direct 1800 828 200 fax 0894375060 (they prefer to deliver to business address only so someone picks up the package)
50mm socket 3/4" drive (40mm inside reach) KC unit $26.50
Adapter 1/2"female to 3/4" male KTKC1234 $17.54
deliver in Australia. They are on the net.
The reach from the spindle end to the lock nut is 37mm so be careful when buying from another place to measure this internal depth.
cheers
Nic

TOOL??? Hahahahahahahahaha, I've taken it off and put it on again more times than I can remember without any special tool. A punch and hammer works every time whilst being careful not to damage the nut. Also is you use a plumbers wrench, also called a Stiltzen (spelling unsure) you'll find that you can get it.

two flat blade screwdrivers a chunk of wood and the handle of the vice grips worked for me. oh and a hammer to put them back in. and that was on the side of the road.

With the amount of cv's i have broken i can do it with the eyes closed.
Hammer and nice thick screwdriver does the trick everytime.

I got a great kinchome 50mm socket for 'bout 25 bucks that's plenty deep enough.
Good for use with torque wrench.... but I'm well over using a torque wrench on wheel bearings!
