WANTING INFO,PIC`S,IDEAS ON 4" SNORKEL ,AKA LIKE BIRDY`S TO SUIT GQ,ALSO AIR FILTER CAN OUT LET TO MOTOR MOD TO 4".

i think he wants a 4" snorkle like birdy's
the other part i have no idea where he talks about "can is cruiser 75 series 3".
in reference to the 4" snorkle i would just go to an exhaust shop and they fab one up for you, and also the out let to motor mod well i would probably use a donaldson 8" pre cleaner and do some modifications to that. As i heard they can be improved

And he needs to reduce the snorkel from 4" to 3"

Sorry guys what i need is a 4" snorkel, and run 4" all the way to the motor, but the inlet & out let on the airfilter is 3" .The air filter box [can] is off a toyota HJ 75. I shouldn`t drink when typing!!!

do you have 4" mandrel bends for this stuff, in 45 or 60 degrees? I would be interested in getting 2x1m lenghts and a bend or 2 if you have them...
Also any idea about freight to Sydney?

i got a similar snorkel to birdys, 4" stainless, used rubber elbow and a couple of rubber 45's for the angles, running into a donaldson filter can which has two 3" outlets for the carbies, in my opinion i prefer the rubber joints over a one piece unit, allows a little movement, sections can be removed or replaced individualy, and it looks damn good. Elbows come froma truck supply shop.

im in the process of building up a similar snorkle for my GQ, I wanted to know how you finished off the end of the snorkle, Did you use a air ram or nothing? Im not to sure which way to go, performance wise mainly. Im thinking that by putting a air ram id get better air intake.

Hey Bob, just chat to bru he has the gear you'll need. As for the can just cut off the outlet and make the hole bigger and weld on a new piece of pipe that is 4". Or us a rubber 4" / 3" reducer. It will still have the restriction though and you don' t want that on a naturally aspirated V8 Are you going to be at Rocky this week end?

Forgot to say that if you don't want to weld up bends for your snorkle you can use the donaldson rubber bends. This is what I've used on mine and it works a treat. Heaps easier to use as well.

stripping the truck down for a complete rebuild. I'll hopefully be ready for XI. I'm coming down on the weekend to have a look I'll catch up then for a couple of rumbo's

i faced it directly backwards, used another 45 degree rubber elbow and got a piece of 4" tube to go inside and welded a couple of thin bars on it to stop anything going down the pipe. I figured it had enough grunt as it was (383 chev) and had heard a few things about ram air making the gas play up, also looked good and keeps crap out.Tayls wrote:Patroler...

yeah, i was thinking of something similar, cheaper alternative...
one other question, i was trying to hunt down the rubber elbows, went to a couple of hose joint but no luck, any suggestions??
