hey guys, have done some dearching and even looked on Qld Trans web site, but can't find any info, are there any regulations as to fuel fillers and filler necks?? have chopped the tray on my lux and was thinking of putting a filler into the top of the tray (easier to get to) can you use the same sort of filler they use on boats, or do they need to come up to a certain spec??

Is it petrol or deisel? What year model? The tank must be sealed to prevent evapotation but the cap has a vent to let any excess pressure off in the event of an extremely hot day. If its petrol then it must not upset the evaporative system which is incorporated in the vehicles fuel system.

it's an 82 petrol, I was looking at putting in a straight filler on and a seperate vent as I can't seem to find a vented 50mm filler.

Its pretty old so it wont have a charcoal cannister but the tank would have been sealed. To be honest I dont think anyone would notice as long as it didnt leak.

I would try and replicate the basic set up of the old filler as closely as possible. I don't think anyone will pick it up if it looks similar.

Charcoal cannisters came in about the mid '70s - a 1975 Galant had one. I would expect an '82 Lux to have one, unless there were exceptions for commercials?

Your dead right, there are exceptions for commercial vehicles, they only have to comply to ADR37 as from the 1/1/1988. ADR 27a in 1976 saw the introduction of charcoal cannisters as a vessel to accumulate excess fuel vapours in the engine and return them to the fuel tank while the vehicle was parked. This was only appliccable to passenger cars until 1988 when they introduced unleaded fuel, a whole range of other changes were made to the emission regulations to align us with the ECE (International) Regulations.

If you are looking for regulations to fill the gaps in the Second Addition ADR's then you need to use the road transport regulations.
