id chop out the brace chop the ends run some larger tube over it then add some extra bracking in it

sounds easier/cheaper to build a new one

would you be able to cut the ends in half and chuck some thinner tube inside there so it will be sleeved and also longer

cut where the red lines are and then insert some thinner tube up inside both ends

not sure if this is ok or not as im not really one for this sort of stuff, but i just thought id offer my idea

hahahaha

I wish, will do coils when i can afford to, this will do for now ;)

Anyone got any serious ideas?

other than a new one.... i dont really want to make up a new peice for the rose joint to screw into and the like....

can i cut it just past the rose joint and make a new one from there?

the angle will be all wrong if i make a new one, unless i drop the shackle down and then i will hit it on rocks.....

is extending it like in the pic ok?

cut a v out top and bottom. add steel over and bend to where the ends are happy in their original positions. add a second brace between the new steel. and re weld where you cut the v's. add sheet between the first and new braces if you wish

cheers bru

Every time I make something for Jeffskies, he changes his plans a couple of months down the track......
I hate wasteing my time :bad-words:

Bullbar to suit 3" lift & with a winch mount ......
sold it cause he took the lift out and it didnt line up no more

Side rails to suit 3" lift and match up to said bullbar .....
sold it cause it didnt match up after he took the lift out and it only suited that "special" bulbar i made for him.

Rear 'heavy duty' bumper with "HaymenReece" style recovery hook & dropdown towbar & with well protected reversing light ....
cut it to pieces ( probably scrap metal now ! )

Roll bar ....
sold it ( after he cut a section out of it thus weakening the whole thing)

Now the track bar .....
I give up

Jeff ....
SELL THE DAMN TRACKBAR AS IT IS,
this way you'll get good $$$$ and it wont end up like the rest of your stuff, also the new owner will be happy to get an unbutchered unit

Then get one made that is 100% fitted to you POS with the money you get from the sale of the track bar.

easily fixed with a bit of tube or pipe same diameter and some steel plate to gusset over the joins of the tube all neatly welded....piece of cake ;)

Cut the top and bottom bars in the middle and sleeve it with some heavy wall tube that overalaps by a couple of inches each end. Slip the original bar inside the sleeve to the correct length and weld it in place. Piece of piss mate.

Why not have alook through the wreeckers take a tape measure with you and see if you can find a longer one of a similar vehicle ?

Wreeckers sometimes can be a customisers best friend i spend a few hours a month just looking at parts and visualise them in places the were never designed for

the number plate surround is off a nissan bluebird 92 model inverted and 100mm choped out of it
and it fitted perfectly all i did was removed the bar from the bluebird and turned it upside down to see what it looked like

it cost me 5 bucks and was well worth the effort!

Image

I am not up on the whole 4x4 suspension but maybe look at a small truck wreeker to see if they have the same sort of parts?

cut the last 50mm off that has the rose joint in it. throw the rest away.
remake the whole thing the right size out of bigger tube and push that 50mm piece with the joint threaded into it into the end of it and weld it up.

TRY using tube or solid rod up the guts of it .using the same size tube as your using (original trac bar)then once you have slid the new tube over the peice up that is up the guts of the original track bar ,ensuring there is enough rod/tube inside the new tube drill a hole top and bottom until you hit the new tube then drill a bit more but not enough to go thru, then using the welder MIG preferd weld the hole up .As well as welding the original join.STRONG AS>

cheers gtwebbie, got it figured now its all good.

wat i am doing is cutting the bottom bar off the top bar then sleeving the top bar and making a completely new bottom bar,
id say 85 percent of the trackbar will be new tube.

ill post pics once its all completed ;)
