I have 285/75/16's

I just read that they are the equivalent to 34's
But...they only measure 32"
I've seen this before when my 31's were only 30"

So how do your real 32/34's (JT 2's etc) measure up?

Cheers
Dave

285/75xR16 are approx 33x11.5

All tyres measure differentely from manufacturer specs due sometimes depending on the rims they are mounted on and sometimes they are just slightly out but they use the closest "standard" size.

Check Simex4x4.com for actual measurements on their tyres.

Oh and SEARCH NEWBIE, this topic has been discussed and asked god knows how many times ...

Motorway web site?

When they remould tyres they add a lot of rubber to create the new tread - so Motorway's remoulds are larger than factory original tyres with the same carcass.

Even measuring on your truck won't give you the figures you're expecting - different inflation pressures & rim widths will affect what you measure, wear reduces the OD, and, if you measure ground up, there's the minor issue of the flat spot your tyre is sitting on.

If you really want to compare sizes look them up on the manufacturer's web site i.e SEARCH! :D

To answer the original question, Simex is one of the few manufacturer that gets it pretty right, more often being larger (0.3"-0.6") than smaller than the specified size.
