Outer Limits 4x4 Board

So does any one have any experance with these? What are they like? they are priced pretty good compared to BFG, Cooper and the MTR's.

For a cheapie they aren't too bad. Can be prone to some heel and toe wear on the shoulder blocks (due to lighter case construction), so you'll have to keep them rotated regularly. But you should get somewhere around 40 000kms out of them and some reasonable traction off road for the price, all depending how much of a hiding you give them.
Shallower tread depth than BFG, Cooper and MTR. Narrower Steel Belt and thinner body plys aswell. So really shouldn't be compared against these tyres.

What price where they up for?

I've done probably about 10,000 kms on a set and have been impressed. They are well behaved on road and quiet considering their open tread pattern.
Off road they perform pretty well, perhaps not on par with a BFG but not far off and I believe they are considerably cheaper.
If you are after a cheap set of mud tyres then i would definately recommend them.

but remember as ryano said you shouldnt compare a hyundi with a holden......

They are alright for the money, and will do the majority of the stuff other tyres will. However they aren't as strong in their case construction, not as straight in the sidewall and have a shallower tread depth (when compared to the tyres also listed). This basically means that they can be more susceptible to puncture and impact damage. This is basically why they are the cheaper pricing. If this is your price range however, they are a good tyre for the money.

What price where they up for?

Mate they are very well priced for a radial Mud tyre.
For the Nankang "mud star" in 315/75R16 (which is 35x12.5x16) they are about $210-235 depends on if you want them fitted and balanced. The 285/75R16 (33x12.5x16) are about $170 and they are coming out with a 33x12.5x15 soon. Contact mudtoy (Simon) on this board and he will be able to help you more.

these tyres are 6 ply compared to bfg etc only 3 ply, pity they have a round and not square shoulder on the tread.

The Nankang Mudstars we have are an 8 PR. This is an 8 ply rating and not an 8 ply sidewall.

We are testing the 315 /16s Nankangs on Miranda's 80 and a set of the 285 /17s BFGoodrich muds on Miranda's GU.

At this stage the GU is our tourer to get to events for filming and the 80 is a weekend warrior.

So far the Nankangs have outperformed our expectations on and off road.
From previous experience I believe the Nankangs are as good off road and possibly better than the BFG but we are yet to test these new BFGs off road.

We will be doing this over the weekend but so far on road...at speeds up to 165kph the BFGoodrich muds have been spot on.

The Nankang should be seen as a top budget tyre and the BFG as the top premium tyre.

what do u mean they are coming out in 33" tyre, i have aset for on road duties now

...they even have a 304 /16 now which equates to 34 inch in the Nankang Mud.

I have a set of these thanks to Simon and 4WDTV
They are grouse off road as thats all I use them for and I am extreamly happy with there performance in the muddy bogs.
The only thing I have found is that the 33x12.5x15 actually measure 32x11.5x15.
But I aint complaining

The measured width will depend on the width of the rim they're mounted on. Don't know how you'd change the diameter...

i have ran them for about 6 months now, they aint too bad, for there price they are great, they aint wearing too badly either . however i only plan to wheel them for a yr, i think after that they wouldnt be too good, at the moment they are wearing pretty well very happy with them so far, they aint too bad off road either, just not goot for climbing on the side due to no tread there.

yeah there good tyres, really really good, but id rather simexs
