gq clutch/box problem?

Post by mauricem »

hey guys,
in my eternal quest for the "right" gq I have come across another candidate which of course is miles away :x

All sounds pretty sweet except when questioned on clutch owner reports gear changes are very tight for first few klms but then are normal. Reckons clutch doesnt slip at all.

He's currently running synthetic in the box which I guess was an attempt to solve the problem, which would obviously have no impact on a worn clutch.

It has done just over 200k and afaik is still on the original clutch.

Is this something I should be concerned about or just a "feature"?

Havent noticed this in other gqs ive test driven but then these had probably been warmed up b4.

thanks

Maurice

same here, been told by many people the best way to fix it is just forget about it, big strong gearbox is gonna last a long time unless you thrash it

Seen a cudtom turbo GU TD42 today have the clutch side steped at maxs rev in 2nd low today. Nothing went bang and the clutch didnt slip, but the instant wheel speed was very impresive.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....

nothin to worry about. mines got over 250 000k's and have full log books and used to tow a caravan around aus. replaced 2nd gear selector and clutch at 240 000k's ( thats what you get for climbing BIG rocks and snapping seconds in the mud. but otherwise its one tough cookie.
